What you get

Organic Shampoos

Organic, skin-soothing oatmeal or hypoallergenic shampoos that lock in moisture, with no artificial dyes and no harsh sulfates.

Gentle Dry & Brush

No high-heat drying boxes here. We use hand-held dryers and brush protocols matched to your dog's coat type, which avoids hot spots and skin irritation.

Nail & Ear Health

Nails are trimmed and can be ground smooth to protect your floors and their paws. Ears are cleaned and checked carefully for redness or sensitivity.

Sanitary & Tidy Cuts

Quick tidy trims around the belly, paws and tail pads keep the coat clean and stop painful tangling between full grooms.

How a grooming visit works

  1. 1

    Check the price, then book

Grooming runs by appointment. Find your dog's weight on the pricing page to see the exact cost, then ring (226) 317-0628 or email kitchener@themoderndog.ca to get them in.

  2. 2

Drop off, or pair it with daycare

You can bring your dog in just for their appointment, or add a spa session at daycare drop-off so it all happens in one trip.

  3. 3

    Gentle, individual handling

One dog at a time, hand-held dryers, organic shampoos, and a groomer who works at your dog's pace rather than the clock's.

  4. 4

    Home clean and calm

We will tell you what we noticed about their coat, skin, nails and ears, and what to keep an eye on before the next visit.

Got Questions?

Dog Grooming questions

A bath, dry, brush-out, a breed-appropriate haircut, plus nails and ears. If your dog needs less than that, a bath and brush covers a warm bath, blow-dry, brush-out and a scent finish, and a nail trim can be booked on its own.
It depends on your dog's weight, and every rate is published so you can work it out before you call. A bath and brush runs from $70 for a dog under 10 lbs up to $140 for a dog over 121 lbs. A full groom, which adds a haircut, runs from $80 up to $160. A puppy intro for a dog under 15 lbs is $55, and a touch-up between full grooms is $40 to $70. All prices exclude tax.
Organic, skin-soothing oatmeal or hypoallergenic shampoos, chosen for the coat and skin in front of us. They lock in moisture and contain no artificial dyes or harsh sulfates.
No. We use hand-held blow dryers and brush protocols matched to your dog's coat type, which avoids the hot spots and skin irritation that forced-air drying boxes can cause.
Yes. Add a spa session at drop-off and your dog gets their groom and a day of play in the same visit, which saves you a second trip across town.
Yes. The puppy introduction is a gentle first grooming experience built specifically for nervous pups, so their first time being handled, bathed and dried is a calm one. It is $55 for a puppy up to 15 lbs, and it suits puppies around two to five months old. For a puppy over 15 lbs, give us a call and we will price it.
So the time is there if we need it. Coats hide matting, and if a brush-out turns into a groom halfway through, we would rather already have the slot than send your dog home half finished. You are charged for the service your dog actually gets.
A nail clip or grind is $20, ear cleaning $20, teeth brushing $20, a blueberry facial to lift tear and beard stains $25, and a hypoallergenic shampoo for sensitive skin $15. Hand scissoring is $25 and dematting is $30 where a coat needs it. If your dog has met a skunk, the removal shampoo is $50 and needs up to an hour of extra time, so please do not wash them before you bring them in.

Ready to book dog grooming?

Start with a meet & greet. It is $39 per pup and includes a full day of daycare, so you can see the facility, meet the handlers, and make sure it is the right fit before you commit to anything.
